The ASA Awards of Excellence are the perfect opportunity to shine a light on a sonographer who has made a difference over the past year. Award recipients will be honoured at the Gala Dinner held at the ASA2026 Gold Coast Conference in May.
Nominations for the 2026 Awards of Excellence will open in 2026.
The annual ASA Awards of Excellence honours outstanding achievements in sonography and recognises excellence, best practice, and contributions to the sonography profession.
It could be someone who has gone the extra mile in patient care, is an innovative educator, or is passionate about mentoring sonographers. They could be the sonographer in your workplace who provides great team support, someone dedicated to volunteering, or perhaps an enthusiastic researcher.
The Awards of Excellence categories include:
Sonographer of the Year (ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA & New Zealand)
The Sue Caitcheon Memorial ASA Volunteer of the Year Award
Researcher of the Year
Tutor/Clinical Supervisor of the Year
Rural and Remote Sonographer of the Year*
Emerging Sonographer of the Year**

*To be eligible, Australian nominees must work in an area designated MM3 to MM7 according to the Modified Monash model. New Zealand nominees must work in a zone designated R1 to R3 according to the Government's urban map.
**To be eligible, the nominee must have graduated within the last five years.
Nominations for the 2025 Pru Pratten Lifetime Achievement Award will open in 2026.
Nominees will display a desire for excellence, demonstrate outstanding achievements, and through their personal efforts, helped to advance the sonography profession.
The 2026 Award recipient will be announced and honoured at the Gala Dinner held at the ASA2026 Gold Coast Conference.
In 2024, the ASA Board made the decision to grant all past and future Pru Pratten Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award recipients with Honorary ASA Lifetime Membership, in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the sonography profession and to the ASA.
