Dr Jennifer Alphonse, FASA | Central Queensland University
Completed a PhD in 2015 and is a generally trained sonographer with a passion for education, research and evidence based and advanced clinical practice. Jennifer worked for five years in general practice, seven years in a dedicated paediatric practice before moving to Sydney Ultrasound for Women, where for more than 19 years Jennifer has held a position at as a senior sonographer.Jennifer has a particular interest in gynaecological ultrasound and has been heard to say “I love an empty uterus” in reference to her enthusiasm for high level gynaecological/pelvic ultrasound.
Casey Smedley | SAMI Women's and Children's Hospital
Casey Smedley is an experienced Women's Ultrasound Tutor Sonographer at the Women's and Children's Hospital with over 20 years experience in diagnostic ultrasound. Specialising in obstetric and fertility imaging at O & G and Repromed, Casey is deeply committed to supporting women and families through all stages of pregnancy and reproductive health. In addition to her clinical expertise, Casey is currently upskilling in paediatric ultrasound, expanding her scope of practice to enhance the care of infants and children. She works across both the public and private health sectors, providing high-quality imaging services in diverse clinical settings. Casey is also pursuing a Master of Research at CQUniversity, where her studies focus on advancing knowledge and practice within obstetric ultrasound. Her dedication to professional growth and evidence based practice reflects her passion from improving patient outcomes and contributing to the future of ultrasound in women's health. Casey takes great joy in sharing her vast knowledge and skills, finding satisfaction in supporting andmentoring trainees in the field of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.
Mr Aaron Fleming | Qscan Radiology Clinics
Aaron is a Queensland based Sonographer and Ultrasound Educator. He graduated from radiography at Newcastle Uni in 2009 and completed a postgraduate diploma in medical ultrasound in 2013 at QUT. In 2024 he was awarded QLD Sonographer of the year.He has delivered numerous presentations, lectures and workshops, including upper and lower limb Anatomy Days at Sydney and the Gold Coast and was the keynote speaker for the MSK stream at the 2024 ASA conference.
Bryce Allen | Mermaid Beach Radiology
Bryce Allen is an experienced general sonographer, with echocardiography training, special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound, and contrast enhanced ultrasound. He spent 5 years exploring the exercise and sport science sector, with injury rehabilitation and strength and conditioning, before pivoting into a diagnostic ultrasound career. His radiology clinical experience of 10 years spans across both public and private sectors (including a locum stint in Hobart!). He holds certifications in Ultrasound-Guided musculoskeletal injections, ultrasound guided Venous Access, and extensive experience in regenerative Ortho biologics for musculoskeletal conditions. Bryce is part of ongoing research for PRP non-operative repair of acute ligamentous ruptures.Off the back of a mountain biking accident, Bryce’s injury put his clinical ultrasound career on hold, leading him to explore other avenues in videography. This creative plot twist sparked a new passion for ultrasound education. And has lead him to deliver multiple international webinars, private seminars, and hands-on workshops for physicians, allied health professionals and sonographers alike, on the topic of advanced MSK ultrasound.Its Bryce’s aim is to deliver engaging content to elevate the ultrasound user’s skill set and keep ultrasound at the front line of medical diagnostics.
Mr Heath Edwards, FASA | Queensland Vascular Diagnostics/Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital
Heath hails from Brisbane Queensland where he splits his clinical time between Queensland Vascular Diagnostics primarily and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He has presented at numerous local, national, and international events before and has a keen interest in optimizing patient symptomology with vascular ultrasound.Heath is also a current member of the Vascular SIG.
Matthew Adams, AFASA | Northern Beaches Vascular
Matt trained as a Clinical Vascular Scientist in the UK where he worked with the Vascular Studies team at the Royal Free Hospital. After 5 busy years scanning, helping out with teaching and assisting in research conducted by the University College London, Matt made the move over to Australia in early 2017 where he is now in charge of Camperdown Vascular Lab in Sydney.
