First trimester structures
8:30 AM - 9:20 AMPresentation Synopsis / Abstract
This session will provide a focused overview of first trimester fetal anatomy screening, highlighting its evolving role in early detection of structural abnormalities and integration with aneuploidy and placental risk assessment. The talk will outline the key objectives of a systematic first trimester scan at 11–13+6 weeks, including confirmation of viability, accurate dating, and a structured approach to early fetal anatomical assessment.
Participants will be guided through a practical, stepwise protocol covering essential anatomical landmarks, including the skull and brain, face, spine, abdominal wall, stomach, bladder, limbs, and cardiac views.
This will be complemented by a live scanning demonstration, allowing real-time illustration of techniques, probe handling, and troubleshooting in a clinical setting. The session aims to enhance participants’ confidence in performing and interpreting first trimester anatomy scans, and to support consistent, high-quality practice in early pregnancy ultrasound.
