Pre-Conference Immersive Workshops
New for ASA2026, in addition to the 3-day conference program, our Pre-Conference Immersive Workshops offer small-group, expert-led learning with a mix of live clinical scanning and professional enhancement designed for immediate application. Delegates can choose from six focused workshops on Thursday 28 May, each designed to deepen skills, build confidence and elevate practice before the main conference begins.
The Great Debate
Introducing a dynamic new session for ASA2026: The Great Debate. This fast-paced, moderated debate tackles one of the most talked-about questions in our profession: should sonographers in Australia and New Zealand be authorised to provide independent diagnostic reports? Across 40 minutes, panellists with strong viewpoints (and big personalities) will argue for and against expanded reporting rights, exploring impacts on patient care, workforce pressures, professional recognition, legal considerations and international precedents. With opening statements, rebuttals, live audience polling and an open Q&A, this session invites delegates to listen, challenge, question and ultimately decide where they stand. Be ready for a lively, thought-provoking discussion on the future scope of sonography.
Larger Workshop Spaces
Immerse yourself in the thrilling world of sonographer expertise and practical learning! For in-person delegates, this year there are 56 dynamic live scanning sessions over Friday and Saturday, showcasing experts in action and unveiling cutting-edge scanning techniques for you to integrate into your professional arsenal. In response to your valuable feedback, we have increased the capacity in the live scanning rooms, with 3 out of 4 rooms having auditorium seating so no matter where you're sitting, you'll have the perfect view!

Masterclasses
In addition to our dynamic workshops on Friday and Saturday, this year's Sunday program will feature 10 Masterclasses across all streams (excluding cardiac): 90-minute tailored sessions designed to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge. Through a mix of hands-on scanning, immersive live demonstrations, and in-depth discussions, you'll gain unique and valuable insights to adopt into your practice. Masterclasses are limited to in-person delegates only, making it a special opportunity.
ASA Arena
We're excited to bring you more insightful discussions with panels of leading sonographers at ASA Arena. These sessions encourage audience participation, creating a platform for meaningful conversations. Topics this year cover essential areas like supporting sonographer longevity in the workforce, navigating the changes in ultrasound in medicine, and preparing for the future of digital health.
