In this session we will refresh our upper GI anatomy, explore a range of pathologies you might come across in children, particularly those who present with persistent or recurrent vomiting. We will also discuss and demonstrate techniques to identify common issues, and have some interactive question and answer if time permits.

Tristan is the Consultant Radiographer/Sonographer at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, a role in which he manages medical imaging research and provides paediatric sonography advice, as well as some clinical scanning. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor and Sessional Lecturer in Paediatric Ultrasound at QUT where he completed his PhD and continues to mentor and collaborate on research projects. Prior to focussing on paediatrics Tristan worked generally as a radiographer and sonographer in Newcastle and Sydney, and prior to that served in the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force. He is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications, with over 250 citations. He is a member of the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) Research Special Interest Group, and was awarded an ASA Fellowship in 2018, ASA Sonographer of the Year - Queensland (2018 & 2021), and ASA Researcher of the Year (2019).
