Plantar hindfoot muscles: A signpost for Baxter's nerve entrapment **NEW VOICE**
1:30 PM - 2:20 PMPresentation Synopsis / Abstract
Entrapment or injury of the inferior calcaneal nerve, also called Baxter's nerve, can be a cause of heel or plantar foot pain. Alteration to Baxter's nerve can occur independently or concurrently with plantar fasciitis. Changes to this nerve, or the lateral plantar nerve, from which it arises, or the medial plantar nerve can be easily demonstrated sonographically. The key to imaging these structures involves using the plantar foot muscles as sonographic landmarks. The neuromuscular anatomy of the plantar foot will be unpacked, and the technique to image nerves and muscles of the plantar foot will be demonstrated in this live scanning workshop.
