The flow show: Mastering fetal Doppler dynamics

3:00 PM - 3:50 PM

Presentation Synopsis / Abstract

This live scanning demonstration aims to enhance understanding and practical application of fetal Doppler in routine obstetric practice. The session will focus on the key principles of Doppler ultrasound, including waveform interpretation, correct technique, and optimisation of image acquisition to ensure accurate and reproducible results.

Participants will gain insight into the clinical relevance of commonly assessed vessels, including the umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, and ductus venosus, with an emphasis on recognising normal versus abnormal flow patterns. The demonstration will highlight common pitfalls, technical challenges, and tips to improve confidence and efficiency when performing fetal Doppler assessments in a busy clinical setting.

Through real-time scanning, this session will bridge the gap between theory and practice, reinforcing best-practice approaches and current guidelines. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to integrate Doppler findings into clinical decision-making and how to optimise their scanning technique to support high-quality patient care.
