The central citadel: Venture through the endometrium

12:30 PM - 1:20 PM

Presentation Synopsis / Abstract

This live scanning session invites participants to venture through the endometrium, highlighting the central role of ultrasound in comprehensive endometrial assessment. Using a systematic, stepwise approach, the session will demonstrate endometrial evaluation across transabdominal (TA) and transvaginal (TVS) techniques, integrating 2D and 3D imaging in B-mode and colour Doppler.
Beginning with TA scanning to establish pelvic overview and uterine orientation, the session will progress to detailed TVS assessment of endometrial thickness, morphology, and echotexture. Real-time demonstrations will show how 3D volume acquisition and multiplanar reconstruction enhance visualisation of the endometrial cavity and junctional zone, aiding detection of focal lesions and structural abnormalities. Colour Doppler will be used to assess vascular patterns, supporting differentiation between benign and suspicious endometrial pathology.
Clinical applications will include evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, and postmenopausal endometrium. This session aims to equip participants with practical scanning strategies and interpretative confidence to optimise endometrial assessment in everyday clinical practice.
