Under pressure: Navigating pitfalls and pathologies in the forefoot

3:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Presentation Synopsis / Abstract

Let’s be honest: when a "forefoot ultrasound" appears on the worklist, most sonographers suddenly find an urgent need for a coffee break. Between awkward ergonomics and the anatomical traffic jam of the metatarsal heads, it’s rarely a crowd favorite. However, mastering Morton’s bursa-neuroma complex is the key to turning a frustrating scan into a diagnostic win.

This session strips back the complexity, providing a high-yield review of essential anatomy—from the deep transverse metatarsal ligament to the plantar plates. We will dive into specialized sonographic techniques and explore dynamic manoeuvres that make pathology jump off the screen. We’ll also tackle the pitfalls that leave us second-guessing: is it a true neuroma, an angry bursa, or just an artifact of our own despair?

Join us as we bridge the gap between technical difficulty and clinical clarity, ensuring you leave with practical strategies to tackle Morton’s bursa-neuroma complex while keeping your sanity intact.
