Mastering 3D pelvic ultrasound: Volume acquisition to clinical applications

2:40 PM - 3:20 PM

Presentation Synopsis / Abstract

This live scanning session focuses on developing practical expertise in 3D pelvic ultrasound, from optimal volume acquisition to meaningful clinical application. The session will begin with a step-by-step demonstration of correct patient preparation, probe positioning, and machine settings required to acquire high-quality 3D volumes of the uterus and adnexa. Common acquisition pitfalls and troubleshooting strategies will be highlighted to help participants achieve consistent, reproducible results.
Using real-time scanning with post-processing, and cine clips, the session will demonstrate manipulation techniques essential for accurate interpretation. Clinical applications of 3D pelvic ultrasound will be explored, including assessment of uterine anomalies, endometrial pathology, intrauterine device localisation, and complex adnexal lesions. Emphasis will be placed on how 3D imaging complements 2D ultrasound, enhances anatomical understanding, and improves diagnostic confidence.
By the end of this session, participants will gain practical skills to integrate 3D pelvic ultrasound into routine practice, enhancing image quality, workflow efficiency, and clinical decision-making.
