Biography

Mrs Claire Arrowsmith | Qscan & AIU Claire Arrowsmith is a senior clinical sonographer and Director of Education at the Australian Institute of Ultrasound. She holds a Master of Medical Ultrasound and has over 30 years’ clinical experience across the UK and Australia as both a radiographer and sonographer, working in tertiary hospitals and private practice. Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal and point-of-care ultrasound. Claire has more than a decade of experience in ultrasound education, delivering postgraduate, college, and industry-based teaching, and has presented nationally and internationally, including faculty roles supporting Martinoli Ultrasound Courses. She continues to practise clinically while leading curriculum development, faculty training, and strategic education initiatives at AIU.

Biography

Ms Katherine Eller | AIU Ms Katherine Eller is a Senior Sonographer with 35 years experience having worked in New Zealand, the UK, Austria and Australia. She spent over 5 years working in Austria as an ultrasound applications specialist including with CEUS. She has volunteered with the ASA to convene conferences and workshops and was the first Chairperson of the ASA Queensland and member of the ASA Federal Council. Currently she is working as a Senior Sonographer in a private Radiology clinic, as an Ultrasound Educator at the AIU and as a session tutor at Bond University in the Medical faculty on the Gold Coast. Her teaching role includes delivering POCUS and emerging ultrasound applications which continues to engage her passion for learning.

Biography

Assoc Prof Michelle Fenech FASA | Central Queensland University Associate Professor Michelle Fenech is a sonographer, teaching scholar and active researcher based at Central Queensland University (Brisbane campus) where she is the Head of Course of post graduate medical sonography studies. She is the chair of the ASA MSK Special interest group (SIG) and a member of the ASA Research SIG and has a keen interest in anatomy and musculoskeletal sonographic imaging and is involved in researching and teaching these topics. She holds a principal teaching fellowship with AdvanceHE and HERDSA fellowship (Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia). Michelle is passionate about the sonographic profession and key professional issues including developing a strong sonographer professional identity, models of sonographer training, extended scope of practice, and the development sonographer career framework.

Biography

Mr Chris Gilmore FASA | Prince Charles Hospital Chris is a general sonographer who works in Brisbane at the teaching facility The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH). In addition to servicing a busy metropolitan emergency and critical care service, TPCH provides quaternary referral service for cardiothoracic medicine including heart / lung transplantation, with the facility also providing many other specialist medical services such as gastroenterology, vascular, orthopaedic, geriatric, mental health, endocrine and palliative care. Chris has a broad interest in general ultrasound including its use in assisting procedures. Chris has been credentialed in PICC insertion procedures and holds a general approval licence to administer local anaesthetic issued by the Queensland Medicine Regulation Unit.

Biography

Mr Luke Kipping | Regional Ultrasound Solutions Luke is a clinical and interventional sonographer with Regional Ultrasound Solutions Pty Ltd in Maryborough Qld. Luke undertook dedicated study in Ultrasound guided procedures as part of a Masters in Medical Sonography in 2014 as well as a Post Graduate certificate in MSK Interventions in 2017. He has over a decade of experience in a range of ultrasound-guided procedures including MSK injections, FNAs, venous access and PRP injections. Luke is passionate about striving to improve patient-centred models of service delivery in diagnostic ultrasound and related ultrasound-guided procedures, to improve patient care and the healthcare system more broadly.
