Pedal to the metal on pedal artery ultrasound

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Presentation Synopsis / Abstract

This hands-on demonstration focuses on advanced pedal duplex scanning techniques for the accurate assessment of Pedal Acceleration Time (PAT). Participants will learn to apply external pedal landmarks, precise probe orientation, and optimized color and spectral Doppler settings to obtain diagnostically accurate PAT measurements and assess arterial hemodynamics.

Emphasis is placed on recognizing pedal anatomy, evaluating flow direction, and interpreting PAT as a physiologic marker of distal perfusion in patients with suspected peripheral artery disease or chronic limb-threatening ischemia. This session provides vascular sonographers with reproducible, high-yield techniques to confidently assess pedal hemodynamics and deliver clinically actionable information in complex distal arterial disease.
