This workshop will cover the fundamental differences in paediatric and adult musculoskeletal ultrasound including anatomy, mechanism of injury and commonly encountered pathologies. It will discuss the different stages of bone development and maturation, and include live scanning, identifying the differing anatomy of a skeletally mature adult compared to a skeletally immature child and include some basic technique approaches to performing the examination.

Steph graduated from The University of Western Australia with a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science in 2014 prior to completing her Graduate Diploma in Medical Sonography through the University of South Australia in 2020. Steph began her career working in private practice in Western Australia at Perth Radiological Clinic acquiring a diverse skill set across all areas of ultrasound. Steph has a special interest in both musculoskeletal and paediatric imaging, and in 2023 moved to Victoria where she now works as a senior sonographer at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and Victoria House Medical Imaging. Across her career, Steph has been involved with training new sonographers and fellows, as well as further education of her colleagues through both in-house and international presentations, most recently with the Radiology Across Borders RABitt series.
